Alexandre Nequado is Atikamekw from Manawan. He has been living in Montreal since 2008 and worked for a financial institution for 6 years before getting involved in the field of culture. He works at Terres en vues, the organization for the festival Présence autochtone. He also does Atikamekw/French translation for various television productions. He also does awareness-raising work for Mikana, a non-profit organization whose goal is to inform different audiences about Indigenous realities. For the past few years, he has been very interested in his mother tongue. Thanks to his translation work, he is discovering a little more about his language and the philosophy behind the words.
