After going back and forth between his hometown of Val-d'Or and his adopted community of Lac Simon, Érik Papatie finally decided to stay in the the Anishnabe community of Lac Simon for good. Érik is gifted with a boundless imagination and he blends his passion for electronics and technology with his love of cinema. In his films, he uses electronic devices to tell dreamlike stories. He uses this common theme to take us through his community and show us snippets of life in Lac Simon. He has now directed eight shorts with Wapikoni Mobile. Directing these films has helped him express himself and to reveal his world and vision of life as well as acquire positive recognition and interaction with the community, something that is not always easy for someone who is disabled. With his film Glitch, Érik was awarded the Audience Prize by Astral at its Annual Premiere in 2011. Érik is cheerful, dynamic, motivated and has a great sense of humour. He takes care of big dogs and his YouTube channel.
