Lashawn Wahpooseyan (born April 29, 1988) is a Cree, Saulteaux First Nations woman from Kawacatoose Cree Nation, Saskatchewan. Wahpooseyan was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan up until the age of 24. She moved to Vancouver, BC in 2012 to continue working with youth and children in care. She soon joined All My Relations basketball team where she found a sens of belonging and realized it’s beyond basketball. Although she grew up with connection to Cree culture, living in Regina meant that she was not always allowed to celebrate her heritage. Wahpooseyan was faced with a lot of racism and was taught to be shameful of being Indigenous. Pushed by a feeling of belonging with All My Relations, Lashawn is now proud of who she is. She continues to give back to the community by working with children in care.
