Born on January 31, 1997 in Joliette, Mélina has always written stories. Younger and unsure of what she wanted to do for a living, she explored several art forms such as photography, music, special effects makeup and film prop making. In 2016, she won the Best Young Atikamekw Singer Award and hopes to one day work with her father, the singer-songwriter Régis Niquay. She draws inspiration from Frida Khalo and Florence Welch. She’s been collaborating with Wapikoni since 2016 and has authored five shorts. In 2020, she directed her sixth project, this time in VR.
