MJ Tremblay is an Algonquin woman from Montreal. She is a photographer, singer-songwriter, actress and painter. Coming from a family of photographers, she started taking snapshots and working with a dark room at the tender age of nine. Marie-Josée is a film buff. She studied Communications and Cinema at Cégep Jean-de-Brébeuf. She directed four black and white shorts, experimenting with the documentary, fiction and animation formats. While studying Film at Concordia University, she created her first short with the Wapikoni Mobile entitled Ni l’une ni l’autre (Neither one nor the Other) at the Montreal 2015 stopover, which was about the concept of identity. MJ is a radio host for CKUT 90.3 FM in Montreal for Native Solidarity. She also writes and sings at various events for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada.
