Born in 1992, Shanice Mollen-Picard is Innu. She was born and raised in Ekuanitshit, on Quebec's Côte-Nord. On top of being an athlete, she is very active in her community where she keeps connected to the land through canoeing and rafting. In 2015, she created a first short, Shipu (River) that paid tribute to the traditional highways. She continues to create shorts to reclaim her culture and language to keep them alive. In 2018, she co-directed a second short on the words elders use to name the land.
